About Nanny Candice

Welcome to my page and thanks for taking the time to check me out! I'm originally from Metro Detroit, Michigan. I recently moved to Greater Phoenix, AZ to be closer to my family that retired in 2010 to the warmer climate.

I began my childcare career at the age of 12 as the local babysitter in my neighborhood and church. I took a babysitting course through the Boys and Girls Club where I got my first certification in CPR/First Aid.

Since then, I continue to maintain current CPR/First Aid as well as seeking out additional educational opportunities to help me be the best career nanny possible. I have attended two NannyPalooza National Conferences as well as several National Nanny Training Days (attended and planned) locally.

I was blessed with the chance to live abroad from 2003-2005 where I took an online course about child day care in addition to volunteering in an English-speaking, Montessori based preschool.

Upon returning to the States in 2005, I found work as a nanny. I also passed the International Nanny Association Credential Exam in 2005.

Through online research, I stumbled across the Michigan Professional Nanny Association and joined them in 2009. This provided many opportunities to make friends with other local nannies as well as a valued source of information about local play venues. MPNA strives to keep nannies updated on current trainings happening as well as the industry standards for career nannies. I was asked to become a board member of MPNA in 2013.

Since moving to Greater Phoenix in 2018, I have established multiple nanny friendships as well as networking relationships with many of the local nanny agencies.

In 2021, I was asked to take over one of the local AZ Nannies Facebook groups along with another nanny. We did plan a National Nanny Training Day for 2020 that unfortunately had to be canceled.

If You Give A Nanny A Naptime

Inspired by our own experiences, the planners of National Nanny Training Day - Michigan Edition offer this children's book parody on behalf of Michigan Professional Nanny Association.

If you give a nanny a naptime…
By Kristin Grau, Candice Kovach, Tara Lindsay, and Jessie Richmond

If you give a nanny a naptime...

She’ll finally get to go to the bathroom in peace.

While she’s washing her hands, she’ll look in the mirror and realize she’s still wearing a tiara and a superman cape, and has six stickers on her face, which will remind her to clean the playroom.

While she is cleaning the playroom, she’ll find 3 dirty socks and a sippy cup of sour milk, so she’ll go to put those away and that’s when she’ll notice that the dishwasher needs to be emptied and the laundry needs to be done.

While she is doing laundry she’ll remember there are dirty clothes in the nursery, so she’ll tiptoe upstairs and as she opens the nursery door it will creak and wake the baby.

As she rocks the baby back to sleep she’ll notice her manicure is a mess, which will remind her that she missed her nail appointment two weeks ago because she agreed to stay and babysit.

As she puts the baby back in the crib she’ll notice her shoulder is covered with baby drool and she’ll remember about the laundry.

While she is doing the laundry, she’ll realize you are almost out detergent, so she’ll start to make a grocery list.

When she opens the fridge to see if you need milk, her tummy will start to rumble and she’ll remember that she never ate lunch.

She’ll make herself a sandwich, add bread to the shopping list, and sit down to eat. As soon as she sits down to eat lunch, she’ll hear the baby on the monitor so she’ll wrap up her sandwich and go to get the baby.

As she dashes back up the stairs, she’ll realize how tired she is and wish that she had a naptime too.

But if you give a nanny a naptime…well, we all know how that goes.

Santa Claus and Company

In 2018, I was presented with the opportunity to partner with this great company for the holiday season. I enjoyed the chance to be part of a fantastic team that made memories for families every night. While I handled most of the computer end of the Santa photos, I had several opportunities nightly to engage with families and children and helping make them laugh.

My primary work location was Illumination in North Phoenix. Occasionally I did a few weekends at Casa Paloma in Chandler.
